Chris is a Hang Gliding Federation of Australia (HGFA) Chief Flying Instructor (CFI), National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) Level 2 Coach and one of the most qualified, experienced and respected in the country.
Chris grew-up on Lake Bonney in the Riverland in South Australia where he watched the birth of the sport. This is where the local water-skiers towed up flat kites behind speed boats and as rudimentary as this was, it was the beginning of the sport of Hang Gliding.
But it wasn’t until 1975 some ten years later on a visit to Cairns in North Queensland that Chris saw a hang glider take-off from a hill for the first time. Upon returning to Alice Springs, Chris commenced teaching himself to fly and from that moment on, he was hooked.
After relocating to Wollongong, Chris taught ‘Carpentry and Joinery’ at the TAFE College during the week and Hang Gliding on the weekends. Now that professional Hang Gliding lessons were finally available, business literally starting to ‘take off’ and in 1982, started ‘Aerial Technics’ which is now the ‘Sydney Hang Gliding Centre’.
