Hang Gliding Federation of Australia Approved Training Facility

The Licence Course is 10 to 12 days in duration which progresses you to the Restricted Licence where you are flying solo. There are also a number of days where you are supervised which are included in the course.

Training days may occur one day at a time or consecutively and this will depend on the weather conditions.

You will need to be available during the week to maximise the opportunity to fly in this very weather dependant sport.

If you commence with a Tandem Instructional Flight and choose to continue to acquire your 'Licence', the cost of this tandem is deducted from the cost of the Course.

Licence Course Costs -
Full Course - $2600.00
Daily $275.00
Half Day - $150.00

• First tandem covering the basic controls and soaring techniques
• Audiovisual classroom Theory Seminar 1
• 1 day on the low Training Hills within reach of your Instructor practicing Take-offs and Landings.
• 1 to 2 days on Higher Hills practicing directional control in preparation for your first Solo Flights.
• 4 to 6 additional Tandem Flights covering advanced soaring and landing approaches
• 3 days of Solo High Glides and Soaring Flights
• Audiovisual classroom Theory Seminar 2
• Multiple Choice Licence examination
• Use of all equipment and transport to the flying sites

Sydney Hang Gliding Centre are proud to be your outlet for both the Australian manufacturers Airborne and Moyes, USA based Wills Wing and the Italian manufacturer Icaro.

Towards the end of the training program, you may decide to take up the sport seriously.

We have a complete quiver of gliders which have been selected for your rate of advancement. From the Airborne FUN floater series glider to the Intermediate / Recreation Sting and Sonic.

Used equipment is also available, which is fully inspected and test flown. We will take the time to ensure that we provide the best gear for your budget and needs.
